Welcome! I’m Beth Ireland. I’m known for my expertise in woodturning and woodworking, and that is what I have taught in schools across the country, to young and old, beginning and advanced, for the past 30 years. But because, at heart, I’m an artist and I follow my curiosities, I am passionate about so many other subjects. My interest in archeology has led me to making crossbows. My love of community teaching led me to instrument making. Graduate school led me to approaching my work more conceptually and from my personal vision of the world—which really uncorked the bottle! The freedom it has given me to go after my “Big Idea(s)” is so profound that I want to share it with everyone.

Our main areas of focus will be to:

  • Organize an archive of my work and materials

  • Share what I've learned about woodworking, wood turning, sculpture, printing, instrument making, and more

  • Teach creative strategies and how I develop ideas

  • And, what is perhaps most important to me, build a community where we can learn, create and collaborate together.

Together with my friend and art colleague Gretchen Burger, we’re cooking up ideas for creating an online community for learning, sharing and collaborating, which we’re calling Beth Ireland Studio.

As we work on developing the first offerings, take a look at the materials and swag (!) we’ve generated so far:
